Vakantiepark Mölke and Brodshoes Restaurant are teaming up this summer
Imagine a stunning location on the Regge, filled with charming festival tents and a cozy food bar. The result: a beautiful pop-up glamping and an equally beautiful pop-up restaurant called “Bij de buren.” The start of a successful partnership between Vakantiepark Mölke in Zuna and the Brodshoes restaurant in Rijssen.
Great plans start with a simple idea. Vakantiepark Mölke had an empty meadow in a prime location. Mölke's Rutger van de Maat: “I saw that empty pasture, the beautiful location along the Regge, and our new harbor, and I thought, ‘This is something we have to use.’” “With the entire hospitality, events, and festival sectors currently at a standstill, the idea quickly took shape to launch a pop-up campground here, where we want to collaborate with local businesses.” Slowing down and enjoying Twente’s natural beauty—that’s the theme of the pop-up campground. Luxury camping in fully equipped tents, with or without private restroom facilities. And with a kitchenette, a sofa, a comfortable bed, electricity, and a nice porch. There are tents that can accommodate anywhere from 2 to 6 persons.
But what's a good pop-up glamping experience without a good restaurant? Van de Maat: “In keeping with the atmosphere and quality we wanted to create, we were eager to work with a local restaurant, especially during these times when local restaurant owners are facing challenges.” “I called Guido from Brodshoes restaurant, and he was just as enthusiastic as I was right away.” And that partnership seems like a natural fit: two family-owned businesses, both with second-generation owners at the helm. Young, enterprising, creative, and forward-thinking. Guido Meinders of Brodshoes restaurant agrees that their enthusiasm can lead to wonderful things. “That pop-up glamping spot is just a cool idea, and we’re really looking forward to running a pop-up restaurant there this summer. A restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and delicious dishes made with local ingredients. Just picture it: a nice glass of wine or a delicious craft beer on the patio, with a view of the Regge. Meanwhile, a delicious steak tartare made with Reggedal beef or a Gamba salad is served. Isn't it great?" When asked whether the pop-up restaurant is open only to guests of the pop-up campground, Guido replies: “The pop-up restaurant ‘Bij de buren’ is open to guests of the pop-up campground, guests of Vakantiepark Mölke, and local guests from our own area.”
Construction is currently in full swing on the pop-up glamping site and the pop-up restaurant. The pop-up glamping site “Bij de buren” will welcome its first guests starting April 23rd. The pop-up restaurant will open its doors on Thursday, May 13th, Ascension Day. “Both the glamping site and the restaurant will remain open through the end of September,” Rutger adds.
It has all the ingredients for a success story. We’re hoping for a beautiful summer with pleasant temperatures, and that many guests will come to enjoy themselves at “Bij de buren.”
